Edgar Masri is out as CEO of 3Com, but the real news is that his replacement, Robert Mao, will be based in China. I think that tells you all you need to know about where 3Com sees much of its future, as I discussed in this post from VoiceCon.Mao has a long history running China operations for companies including Nortel and Alcatel, and 3Com Chairman Eric Benhamou specifically cited "Bob's bi-cultural background, extensive business experience in Asia and fluency in Mandarin and English [which] offer a rare set of skills that can bridge Chinese and western organizations."

3Com's U.S. operations will be led by new President and COO Ronald Sege, who has a long history in the networking industry here, including as CEO of Ellacoya Networks and a stint at 3Com during the company's heydays in the 90s.
